The CBPA was established more than 30 years ago to provide a voice for progressive business people in British Columbia who felt that traditional so-called business groups like Chambers of Commerce and the Canadian Federation of Independent Businesses were not representing their values and beliefs.

The CBPA believes in fair enterprise. We believe that businesses have a responsibility to treat their employees fairly and to treat our environment with respect. And we believe that socially responsible businesses have an obligation to contribute to progressive public policy.

In recent years, membership of the CBPA has declined, as has our profile. Seeing the clear need for a progressive voice for socially responsible businesses, a number of organizations have come forward to help re-energize and re-launch the Association. We want you to join with us to help!

The CBPA is an active and credible voice for progressive public policy as a counter to conservative business lobby groups like the Fraser Institute and the CFIB. Where right-wing business groups tend to echo the language of the governments they help elect, the CBPA will generate new progressive policy ideas that advance corporate social responsibility beyond individual businesses.
